Wow! We have been having an exciting and busy fall! Somehow this time of year always ends up booking up fast for us. We have been so busy having fun, it has been hard for me to find time to update the blog. In the spirit of efficiency, I will summarize and share some of our favorite moments from fall 2009. What we’ve been up to lately:
Leslie’s bachelorette party/girls houseboat weekend: 10 fun girls on a houseboat for 3 days on Lake McClure near Merced. We had perfect weather, lots of girl bonding time, great food and fun games. We even got to wakeboard all day Sunday thanks to Casey and his brother. We slept on the top of the houseboat under the stars, and woke up to mimosas and sunshine.
Trip to Weed/Mt. Shasta/Yreka: We took a weekend trip up to visit Sol’s mom Rivkah in Yreka. We had a great time (with more great weather!) hiking, swimming and sunning at Castle Lake with Rivkah, her boyfriend Charlie and Elvis (the dog). We also got to see the Pappas’s, meet baby Kohen, (so adorable!) and go to a fun restaurant in Mt. Shasta called “The Goat.”
Kibble and Bids: This year Homeward Bound’s big fundraiser was in October instead of the middle of the summer. The venue is a beautiful estate on the banks of the Sacramento River. The weather was mild and much more comfortable, and fit the theme “Autumn in the Hamptons”. This was our 8th time attending! My mom and Barb Mayer did all the decorations and they were beautiful! We volunteered with set up during the day, and then enjoyed the event as guests tasting delicious local wines and food.
Leslie and Casey’s wedding weekend: Mark, Lindsey, Sol and I carpooled down to Merced for our good friends Leslie and Casey’s wedding. It was also a fun reunion with a lot of our college friends who were all staying in the same hotel as us. It was 24 hours of debauchery! The wedding was beautiful, the reception was such a fun celebration, and the after party was well, long lasting. The next morning we took over the restaurant next door for a breakfast around what we decided was a board room table.
Halloween So-Cal camping trip: For Halloween this year we took Thursday and Friday off and took at 4 day trip to Southern California. We left Thursday morning, and headed to Chatsworth, where we got to visit with Yehudah, Shaina and Sholom, and then eat sushi and drink sake with the Snyders. On Friday morning we headed to Malibu where we camped at Leo Carillo Beach for 3 days with Jill and Brandon Blake, a few of their friends from So-Cal, Jill’s funny parents, Bianca and Ali. We had a great time, (again, great weather!) and got to spend the day on Halloween laying on the beach in our bikinis! Everyone at the campground went all out for Halloween, and we got to “trick or treat” around the campground while wearing our silly costumes. After an intense brainstorming session, Sol and I came up with our beach-themed, camping appropriate costumes, a shark and a jellyfish! I had so much fun with my jelly-umbrella floating around the campground all day and night. At night I had an added touch to my costume- I wore my headlamp upside down so the light illuminated the umbrella!
