Black Friday brunch at Cielo, a cute little winery just a few minutes up the road from us. It’s one of my new favorite places!
We hope that everyone has been blessed as we have with a memorable and restful holiday season filled with family, food and fun.
For the last 3 years, the Kamman holiday card has been a collage collection of our favorite shots of the 2 of us from the year. (Check out 2008, 2009 and 2010 here) This year we had to continue with the same grain, now featuring our new family member…
Last summer boating season was cut short when my dad’s beautiful boat engine exploded. (Well, it didn’t technically explode, but you know..self destructed). My dad worked on building the new engine all winter and last weekend Sol helped my dad install his brand new and IMPROVED engine into the boat. Before the installation they took it to a dyno shop to test the horsepower and make sure it was ready for action, and Sol documented it in the latest Sol production:
Our Christmas this year was fun and relaxing, just how we like it! We kicked off the weekend with Christmas Eve dinner at my mom and dad’s house. I made a tofu lasagna (with meat added, for Sol, he insists it’s way better that way!) and my mom made a big salad. We enjoyed good food, company, presents and other general Christmas merriment. My mom and I also whipped out some cookie-press cookies after dinner, just because the season can’t end without them!
On Christmas day, we slept in (late!) and had some festive warm holiday beverages and kitty snuggles before taking a Christmas walk around Cameron Park Lake.
We headed over to my parents house that evening for a delicious Christmas ham meal along with my godparents Pat and Gretchen.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
Kelley and Roger couldn’t come back to California to join us for Christmas this year, so we had a small family Christmas celebration in Denver before heading out of town. The last couple of years my family has done Secret Santa instead of getting each other a bunch of gifts. Barb Mayer picks our names out of a hat and emails us all privately to tell us who to buy for, and we are generally good at keeping the secret. Oh, we also have a price limit of $30.00 so we have to be very creative!
My mom had me, and I had previously “put it out there” that I didn’t want anything for me, just baby stuff- so her gift was perfect. She got me a cute flip flop box, awesome sparkley green nail polish, pina colada soap (okay, that stuff was for me!) cute little ballerina socks and a gift card to Target (for baby stuff!)
I had Kelley, I got her 2 cute purple Old Navy cardigans, in a cat bag of course! (she loves Old Navy cardigans!)
Kelley had Sol, she got him this awesome wine decanter. He has already put it to good use!
Sol got my mom, he got her a beautiful fire bowl for the backyard. It was too big and heavy to bring but she got a picture of it in a card!
Once we got full circle to this point, we realized that my dad and Roger had gotten each other!
My dad got Roger a shirt, a book that was accompanied by a cool story and picture about some planes.
Roger got my dad some fun man toys including a laser level.
We polished off the night with Kelley’s homemade apple pie and then early the next morning we were headed home to California!
